Subj: [kl] copland concerto manuscript vs printed version
Date: Fri, 20 Aug 2004 22:36:47 -0400

hi,
having examined parts of the copland concerto manuscript (it's online in the
library of congress) i have a question about the section that went up to an
upper altissimo D. It looks to occur at bar 441 of the published score,
where the key signature changes from five flats to none (concert). In the
manuscript, however, the key signature for this section is two flats, which
is a tone lower than the published version. I can't understand why this is
(sorry if this is really obvious!)
How can this be so, unless Copland changed the key of this section? Is this
what happened?

Thanks

Mitch
