so ingrained in the Italian culture that there was no need to

For the fun of it, I searched several dictionaries for an
explicit
instruction such as "con improvisation" (I don't speak Italian).
I
couldn't find one. Perhaps this is an example of how deeply
buried
this idea is in music. That is, there's no need to be explicit.
