Subj: [kl] Carl Fischer reeds

I have a few hundred Carl Fischer reeds left in stock for clarinet. They are #3 1/2 - 4 and run just a little lighter than Vandoren in strength. As far as I know they are from 1969. I also have a few hundred for Tenor Sax.
(for my own use I have a few thousand put away for various instruments)

This was an interesting project. Phil Passin put this one together with David Weber and Milt Moscowitz designing or testing the clarinet reeds. Joe Allard also did some of the testing. The reeds were made by Chedeville near the end of their 143? year run as a great reed making company.

After I bought up 85,000 mostly Buffet reeds, in 1976---about 20,000 were the Carl Fischer, with 6,000 of the total going to my personal stock--I did some research to find out about them and finally tracked down Phil. He was quite amazed that anyone cared. I thanked him profusely for doing the project!

I've been playing the 1 1/2 on jazz tenor now for 28 years and they get better and better with age!!! Absolutely amazing stuff!! I've also played these and the Gebhard Steuer reeds on jazz alto since 1972, and the 3 1/2 -4 on Classical Tenor Sax. Talk about TONE!
