Meighan,
I bought Howard's very first quad case. I have been a huge fan of Howard's
cases for years.
I bought my first case, a bass and two clarinets in troughs, when I was in
England, playing as a guest artist at the Arundel Music Festival about 5
years ago. I traveled by train to Howard's home and picked up the case. We
visited for hours. He is a great guy.
I can't remember the exact amount I paid for the case...but I did get a
small discount (10% as I recall) because I had purchased the first case. I
know it was over $500...at least I think it was over $500 :-). CRS.... If
you use my name you can also get the 10% off. If I (or anyone owning a
Wiseman case) refers a certain number of people, Howard will send you a new
case. At least that is the way it has worked in the past. A nice touch. I
haven't gotten any credit...I sell the cases with my enthusiasm over the
case and forget to ask people to tell Howard I recommended the case. Oh
well...it really doesn't matter, these cases are good.
You must know before you make the purchase that these cases are heavier than
most cases on the market. I really don't care that they have more
weight....but some people are a bit surprised when they pick up a clarinet
case with 4 clarinets and the reed case bag attached. From my perspective
the case is supposed to protect my clarinets....Wiseman's cases do a great
job at this task. They are built very well. I can't believe how flimsy some
of the new light weight cases have become.
This case will serve you well for years.
Another hint....be sure to open your case and leave the Velcro closure open
during rehearsals. The first week I used my case I played a job with the
Dallas Sym and had closed the Velcro that surrounds the case. I had to get
into my case for something and the pull of the Velcro got the attention of
all....including the conductor...haha.
Regards,
Forest
