Subj: [kl] Quintet Help
Date: Sat, 8 Jun 2002 13:47:43 -0400
I'm writting on behalf of a Wind Quintet that I occasionally dep for, and
often just generally help out with. They're called The Dionysus Quintet, and
they've been around since about October 2001 now and they play a variety of
different styles of music from renaissance to modern / jazz. They are all
currently students at the same university as me (Warwick), but none of them
actually study music. However, some of them are looking to go into music
professionally. At the moment, they are just looking to get more well known.
They are currently looking to do a tour of the country from about the 2nd to
the 19th of July and have already secured concerts in:
St David's Cathedral
Bangor Cathedral (?)
Guildford (6 July)
Derby Cathedral (I'm playing in this one!!) (19 July)
As you can see, churches/cathedrals make for ideal venues, especially more
accoustic and less carpety-type churches, but arts centres, city halls, etc
also make great venues. However, they would like to try and find some more
venues, and wondered if anyone on the list could help???? As they are such a
newly formed group and only students, an essential part of the criteria has
to be COST! Once again, money is always the issue, but if anyone knows of
any possible venues, any suggestions would be gratefully received!
They also do business functions so if anyone works for or knows of a company
that has a posh summer party or whatever coming up, then there's a quintet
ready and available... :-) Oh, and also on the company line, they're looking
for sponsorship for the tour. The deal would be publicity for the company on
the web, concert programmes, CD, etc, depending on the amount of
sponsorship. Oh, and we're looking to do a Japan tour in July 2003, if that
helps to persuade companies!
Any help would be much appreciated, so if anyone wants anymore details you
can either contact me via email: d.m.shipton@-----.uk , or look at
Also, feel free to turn up to any of the concerts (I'll confirm dates
later), and bring as many friends as you can find!! I think it's worth the
effort, and they certainly deserve a good start!!
Hope you can help,
