Bill, I'm on my way to find a tennis ball to experiment with right now.
After the initial fitting, how about then coating the tennis ball with epoxy
resin and fiberglass (old surfers never die) and then spray painting it
black? It really sounds like an inexpensive way to have some fun
acoustically.

p.s. Forgive me, Bill, but perhaps one could use even use vegetables or
melons or citrus as clarinet bells and join that European edible instrument
wind orchestra. Gallagher and PDQ Bach would be proud!
