My best three ligatures:
A Bay (bought at IMS for I think $35...I just grabbed one off the shelf).
A Frank L. Kaspar ligature which I got for free when I bought a mouthpiece from him.
A soft heavy metal Boosey & Hawkes Ligature which I found, used, in the bottom of a drawer of old clarinet parts, and was probably made in the '50's.
I alternate between these as the playing situation and current mouthpiece/barrel configuration seems to require.
I have bought (and subsequently sold) Luyben, Rovner (5 of these), Bonade, Gigliotti, BG (three of these), etc etc etc ligatures. None of them seem to compare to the three above.
For me.......
By the way, Lelia....(really happy to see you back, BTW)....
I loved your cat attacking your string ligature story. My only recent anecdote regarding pet vs. clarinet involved my missing a rather good Legere reed, and then hearing, horrified, crunch, crunch, crunch....from the Daschund!
