I, too, am a flute player teaching woodwinds in various schools. (I started
on sax from 5-8th grade, switched to flute in high school, and also played
around with clarinet through high school and college.) All the woodwind
embouchures came naturally to me, so I haven't yet figured out how to get
the cheek puffers to stop puffing their cheeks.

Also, most of my clarinet students, complete beginners who I've started
myself, as well as the more experienced ones I just inherited, are reluctant
to use alternate fingerings. They insist it is easier to slide, and no
amount of coaxing, explaining, or demonstrating how much easier they are,
seems to convince them! Is this common?
