<<<(Almost) more irritating are a couple of religious sects that go
door-to-door. To answer the door when I'm working in my office, I literally
have to go from one end of the house to the other. Sixty feet down a hall,
and then 30 feet to the front door. In spite of a sign that says "No
solicitation. No proselytizing" some of them still ring. I usually say
something outrageous to get rid of them. I had one pair almost fall off the
porch, trying to get away, when I told them that they would have to come
back when my "husband" was home, because he didn't like me talking to
strange men. <eg> They were back on their bikes and heading down the
driveway before I could get the door closed.>>>

A few years back I was roused from my bed about 9:00 on a Saturday morning.
When I cracked open the door to see who it was, I was greeted by the sight
of a stereotypical Norman Rockwell family -- Mom, Dad, two smiling children
(1 per gender), all clutching Bibles and dressed in Sunday best.

The father noted most earnestly, "We'd like to come in and talk about
JEsus!"

"Be happy to!" I replied, as cheerfully as I could what with the hangover
and all,. ". . . but I'm not wearing any clothes. . . ."

They never came back.
