Adding to the stories on band directors, our high school director used to
throw his baton, typically in the direction of the percussion. Finally,
after many complaints, he stopped throwing it at people and started to throw
it up in the air. One day he threw it up and it stuck, point first, into the
ceiling tile. His expression was priceless!!

It stayed stuck up there for the rest of the school year. Fond memories of
1959.

No kidding? Mine used to throw trumpet mouthpieces at players. The
administration promoted him up to the Board of Education (which for
safety's sake wasn't such a bad idea)! 8-)
