Tony Pay says:

Our culture is quite sufficiently hyped up into mechanical perfection as it is. And actually, having sat on audition panels, I don't think it's
representative of the attitude of the musicians who are listening for someone they might want to give the job to.

Tony. I hear you, and I really dont disagree with the sentiment. But when you are one of 250 auditionees for a job (as I once was for an important job), the committee often makes the first cut on technical perfection....

With 250 applicatns, and after the technical perfection, there are still enough good musicians left in the pool to pick from.

The point I was really trying to make, and DID NOT succeed, was that you have to know your exerpts cold.

Nerves of steel only help!
