My dogs are my best audience. One doesn't care for
the altissimo, but they both seem to actually enjoy
(or at least tolerate) my practice sessions. I
usually take a clarinet with me when we go out of town
to dog shows, and I've noticed that if they're keyed
up, getting out the clarinet starts settling them
down, and by the time I'm done, they're usually
snoozing. Don't know if it's the ritual itself (hey,
it's just like home!) or what.
