Subj: [kl] Bass Clarinet Multiphonics

In Espace/Brume by Hitomi Kaneko for marimba and bass clarinet there are
multiphonics which I am unable to play the printed pitches with the
fingerings given. One of the main things I do not understand about these
multiphonics is that they all have a very low fundamental note, such as low
Ds and Es which cannot possibly sound witht the given fingering. I have
consulted Phillip Rehfeldt's book, New Directions for Clarinet, and the
Bartolozzi book but do not find these multiphonics listed there. Does anyone
know of a source that would help me to play these multiphonics or have
personal knowledge of how to produce them? The piece was premiered by the
Dutch musicians, Wim Konink (marimba) and Henri Peijnenburg (bass clarinet)
in 1998. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I will try to represent the multiphonics here in pitches and fingerings. The
pitches are as written with c' being middle c. The fingerings are written
from left to right assuming that the left is the top. "T" means thumb hole;
"R" means register key; the numbers represent different keys. "0" is an open
hole; and "X" is a closed hole. Anything above the | is on the left hand,
and below the | is on the right hand. Unfortunately, the piece does not come
with a fingering chart to tell you to which keys the numbers correspond.

d -- g# ' -- c# " T 0XX | 0X0

e -- f ' -- c " -- g# " 0 XXX | X0X 8

g (1/4 #) -- c" (1/4 #) -- g-flat" -- b-flat" 18 T 16 1/2X00 | 0XX

d (1/4 #) -- a# ' -- c# " -- f" -- a" T 0XX 14 | 10 00X 4

Below is a tremolo between:

c (1/4 #) -- g' -- e" -- g" T X0X 15 | XXX (I think that 15 is sliver
e-flat key)

d-flat -- b-flat' -- f ' (1/4 flat) -- a-flat' T X0X 15 | X0X
