This post reminds me of the opening of the Houston Astrodome. They asked one
of the players what he thought of artificial grass. He answered: "I don't
know, I never smoked the stuff!"

As for Legere, I have some, I use them occasionally, but only if a wide
dynamic range is not called for. I find that the pitch differential between
loud and soft is hugely exaggerated by these reeds. I think the sound quality
is generally excellent. The feel is different, and the articulation is not as
responsive overall, though not unacceptable.

I can see myself keeping them around at all times, for emergencies and
especially for doubling. I used one when I played 2nd eflat clarinet of
Mahler 2 in New Jersey lin May. There are about 20 bars of b-flat clarinet
spread throughout 3 movements. Never have to worry about the reed not
