While I've given myself a water blister with a pressure washer, as you have,
my worst mutilation was instrument mutilation instead of self.

At university, I arrived at the edge of late for orchestra warm-up in the
pit for the opera. I'm sure you know, there's never a great deal of extra
room, and I had dashed in w/o taking my overcoat off. Put the clarinets
together, set the bell of the A on the floor, holding with my knees, while I
took off my coat. Well, almost holding it. I felt it slipping, but
couldn't get my arms out of the coat quickly enough. The sound of a crystal
mpc crashing against the metal base of an orchestra stand is a truly
terrible thing. This was, of course, followed by a mad run from the theatre
building to the music building and back with an extra mpc, and then trying
to find enough air to play the overture. (Mozart: Abduction)
