  Hello all,

Being a born-and-bred Boehm system clarinettist, my knowledge of the
legendary 'Oehler system' instruments is limited, to say the least. This is
not helped by the apparent extinction of this instrument in Britain (in my
neck of the woods at least). My tentative question to the list is: Are
there any orchestral clarinet sections, world-wide, containing clarinettists
who use more than one system (i.e. Principal clarinettist using Boehm, 2nd
using Oehler), and if not, why not? I am aware of the essential tonal
differences due to bore-size, set-up etc., but not whether they are
incompatible within a section.

My apologies if this topic has cropped up before...
