Actually, I quite like what you've done, Walter. Putting
the words "commercial message" in the subject heading allows
everybody to decide whether or not they want to spend time
reading a commercial post. If not, they can summarily delete
the message. I think we should make this an established con-
vention on Klarinet, rather than having people endlessly apol-
ogize and meekly indicate "Sorry for the shameless plug" etc.
ad nauseam, when they are obviously not really sorry (otherwise
the action would stop). I would suggest that the subject head-
ing *begin* with the word COMMERCIAL in uppercase letters, mak-
ing it easy to identify those messages at a glance in one's "in"
box. This would include *any* message where commercial content
is present, regardless of whatever else is contained (excluding
tag lines), as well as all these poorly disguised marketing ploys
-- in the form of "mystery" and "guess the player" games -- to get
people to visit a web site. If anybody thinks this tactic isn't
totally transparent, think again. Since commercial things like
this are becoming a normal part of membership on Klarinet (regret-
fully; it wasn't this way 6 years ago), I think members should be
given the opportunity to enjoy the list without the commercial ex-
posure if they would rather.
