In light of your clarification, and Karel's second post on this subject, I
would
like to clarify the hardline stance that I sometimes take. Karel's second
post was
right on target when he suggested that that Kathleen describe her
conclusions and invite
discussion. My position is similar. I like to see list members ask a
question based on
what they found so that the basic question is something like "list members,
this is what I
found about _________(topic). What do you think?" When questions are put
in that type of
format, it indicates to me that he/she has done the research, but is asking
for something
beyond. To me, it's the difference between the handout as opposed to a
hand.

I am well aware of all the resource materials out there. I have already
utilized them, mulled them over, and have drawn my OWN conclusions (GASP)! I
was only mearly asking for another set of opinions, I had no idea I was
about
to open a can of worms. Perhaps I should have, instead of saying I was
working on a paper, just said I was wondering. But that would have been
devious, correct? I just wanted to ease the lists worries of the educational
system doing a tremendous injustice. Rest easy fellow clarinetists, all is
not lost in university education, they still ARE teaching us how to reseach.
