Lauren,
Yes, Interlochen is a great music camp. Everyone who has
attended it has had so many positive things to say about it. There is
also Brevard Music Center, which is quite competitive as well. It is
open to high school through students in graduate school. They have four
orchestras, three bands, a string orchestra, and chamber music as well.
It is very intense 6 weeks, and I learned so much, especially about
orchestral playing. :) They also offer pretty good work scholarships,
which will require you to do things like usher at concerts, etc. (nothing
bad).
Eastern Music Festival is also a superb summer music camp.
There are 2 orchestras which put on weekly concerts. Unlike Brevard, the
orchestras are of equal ability, and the winds are moved around quite a
bit. The nice thing about that is, you don't have to stress about
loosing your seat, and have more time to concentrate on learning your
music for orchestra. It also guarantees you a spot in an orchestra.
They also offer scholarships as well.
If you would like to contact me about addresses for either one of these
camps, my email address is: erinsimmons@-----.com
Best wishes and have a great time at music camp!
Erin Simmons
