Subj: [kl] Eric Mandat story. of sorts

I recently was talking with the two band directors from Univ IL at
Carbindale where Eric teaches. Recently (past year or so) Sean Osborne
from the MET orchestra spent a few weeks studying contemporary clarinet
techniques with Eric. While there, Sean offered to sit in and play Eb
clarinet with their top concert band for their upcoming concert. The
directors were stunned, as were the students, to hear the Eb clarinet
played so beautifully! It is possible.

On of my ex-colleagues, a pipe organist, knew Eric at Eastman and told of
hearing him play (nail) the Bach Chromatic Fantasia in a recital. He could
not believe what he heard!
