Subj: [kl] Mahler 5 "bells up?"
Date: Sun, 4 Apr 1999 11:11:24 -0400

Speaking of bells, (just can't seem to come
up with a segue as good as Jack K.....)
What did Mahler mean by the two different
requests in the fifth symphony clar. parts?
Schalltrichter auf! -and-
Schalltrichter in die Hohe.
I'm guessing: "bells up" and "bells in the air?"
We played them the same last night, but I'm
convinced there is supposed to be a difference....
BTW any suggestions on how to do this without
pain? My neck is killing me!
