Well said Kevin!

We are trained musicians whose job is to play music. We must also make a
living to support ourselves and families. I teach my students to perform
accurately and musically ALL the music they are told/asked to play. This
crosses the styles of a Mahler Symphony or a slushly "Church" Christmas
'cantata'. Our job is to make music not be a music critic. The real music
critic may pass negative judgement on the quality of the music but should
never have a reason to critize the musicians actual performing. Though it
s noted that Kenny tends to reuse licks. However most of us could identify
a Parker improvization from the style of his licks also!

Kenny may chose to sell his talents to the highest bidder, but according to
Kevin, he still feels the need to feed his jazz soul in intimate
surroundings. The great Charlie Parker recorded Parker with Strings as a
crossover recording. Many musicians have recorded Christmas albums as
effort to improve the bottom line. Their job is to make a living. Is it
wrong for Larry Combs to play Jazz on an off night rather than a Brahms
quintet?

Fan the flames...

Dave
