I find this especially interesting since there appears to be SOME crossover
between vocalists and the clarinet. Last week, I think, during the
Metropolitan Opera broadcast intermission, Roberta Peters talked about her
career, and went into detail about the training she received for 6 years
from ages 13 to 19, when she made her Met debut (mindboggling!). Besides
the standard vocalises, her teacher brought her stacks of clarinet music
and got her to sing them.
