Sorry if this is too far off topic, but has anyone actually found the HIV
virus yet? I read something recently (tho' not in detail) which implied that
it *didn't* actually exist, & the HIV symptoms were actually caused by
toxins in the body.

I'm interested in immunity questions - I'm not at all medically trained but
have had *very* bad ME (CFIDS or fairly similar) symptoms for several years
(& somewhat milder ones before that) and have read that they may have been
triggered by root canal work, which is a long-term source of infection and
can produce toxic symptoms, and may be implicated in many other diseases.
(There are other theories about ME, though, e.g. that it's a kind of
alternative polio, or that the sufferers are malingerers or psychiatric
cases, which ain't true, tho' I read that septic teeth *can* trigger
psychiatric problems.)

As I developed an abscess next to my root filling soon before I got really
ill, I do think there's some truth in this, tho' the proof of the pudding
will be when I have the tooth out & the socket cleaned properly (tho' I
expect there's a possibility that too much damage will have occurred for a
proper recovery). Personally I wouldn't be too surprised if the 'AIDS virus'
theory was just as wrong as the 'ME is all in the mind' theory & the whole
thing's due to some kind of immune system overload caused by everything that
ever irretrievably messed your body up, but I haven't seen any proof for
that either...

OK, back to wishing I *had* the energy and brainpower to practise...

Mary
