 Hello everyone,
I am currently using a Claricord neck strap, however, it has seemed to
stop working. I can only play for about a half an hour and then I find
that I can barely hold my clarinet. I don't know if it is just me or if
my neck strap has lost its elasticity. I am more inclined to believe
the latter. I have been to see my doctor who told me that I have a
Repetitive Stress injury a.k.a. overuse syndrome. He told me to rest,
take some anti-inflammatory medication and to wear wrist braces. I am
reluctantly resting because I don't want to do further damage, but I have
wind ensemble seating auditions when I go back to school in 3 weeks. I
am thinking that I should buy a new neck strap so that I can practice
with less pain and stress on my wrists. I was wondering if anyone has
tried the BG neck straps. I don't know if I should get another elastic
strap and hope that it lasts longer than my claricord(I have had it less
than a year) or if I should get the regular one. I also don't know if I
should get the one that attaches to the thumb rest or if I should get the
one that fits around the ring of the lower joint. I am not completely
convinced that I want to put a ring on my clarinet considering that I
wouldn't even put a lyre on my clarinet for its safety. I would
appreciate any advice anyone has to offer and experiences that anyone
could tell me about. Thank you in advance.

 Amy
