<<Who had that job? I just played a job with the daughter(cellist) of one of
the longtime retired members of the CSO Clarinet section (30 years) who
passed away this past summer (she was telling me, I will get more details
soon). She said he played either 2nd, or asst. to Brody. I can't recall his
name. She remembered Yeh's name, so she thinks it was Yeh that replaced him.

The audition in question was to replace Jerome Stowell, who had died. He had
been in the orchestra since the 40s as asst. principal and e-flat clarinet. I
believe he played principal on the Heifetz/Reiner Tchaikovsky Concerto

That audition was won by Larry Combs. When Combs became principal, John Yeh
moved from bass clarinet to asst. principal.
