If you're ever in the greater Los Angeles area, give Charles Bay a call and
ask him if you might give his "plastic" Selmer Bundy contra alto clarinet a
try. He's taken a basic plastic student model horn, undercut the tone holes,
reworked several linkages, plus made other "proprietary" adjustments and
created a horn which he believes compares favorably with the Selmer Paris
rosewood contra altos. In fact he thinks it's better. It's one heck of a
horn, believe me!

p.s. It would be interesting to know if folks like Clark Fobes and Steve
Fowler have ever tried to "professionalize" plastic student horns and what
results they've had.
