I have largely avoided reading the silly posts about naming instruments, but
thought of it when I saw a piece of correspondence today.

The following is, no kidding, a real letter received by a local middle school
band director this week. The names have been changed to protect the
ignorant/innocent:

Dear Mr. xxx:

Thank you for keeping Raymond in mind for the Arthur Teen Clarinet
which we spoke about yesterday. However, after talking it over, my
wife and I have decided to pass on this opportunity. We would like
Raymond's playing to mature just a bit more before buying an
instrument.

Again, thank you for calling me on this.
