It is good to see people like Sarah and Craig. My own experiences when
I was young (long ago) was very like Sarah's although I did get to start
band at the regular grade for my school. I had told my Dad that I
really wanted to be in band. Since we didn't have any money for extras
like band instruments, I "knew" that there was no way that this would
happen. But shortly before band started, my Dad came home with a
clarinet. It was old but in good shape. One of his co-workers had used
it in school when he was young and gave it to my Dad. I cherished that
clarinet and took care of it, for to me it was a miracle just to have an
instrument. Now my younger daughter is playing it for her first year in
band and it's a better quality instrument than any of the others have.
As I have since found out, it is at least an intermediate level
That's how I ended up as a clarinet player by the way. It's what my Dad
brought home. I hadn't even figured out what I might want to play.
However it turned out to be the perfect selection for me.
Keep up the good work kids and be a shining example for every one you
come in contact with.
