To the extent that political decisions effect the ability of clarinet
players to make a living, or effects the number of players who are able to
make a living, a discussion of recent political trends and their impact on
unionism is, I feel, just as important as many of the other subjects
covered in this list.
Musicians should be prepared to deal with these issues. I guarantee that
the management/owners of the organizations who pay for professional players
aren't reluctant to discuss politics or anything else that pertains to
their livelihood.
