 I had this problem for a while when I was using Olivieri reeds long ago.
 Sometimes I was able to correct it by taking a bit of wood off the center
 or heart of the reed, where most books say you should never touch with the
 knife. Eventually I found other brands that played better with less work
 (in my particular setup). So my theory is that they chirp because the cut
 is too thick in the middle in relation to the thin rails and tip.
