Hear hear!

When they started with the particle physicists' notion of colour
charge, I thought "hey, this is ridiculous, these things are so small
that you can't see any colour". And eventually they came out and said
that this was just a code that enabled a metaphor for the way that
quarks behave.

Now we have people talking about darkness and light of a *sound*. So
it must be a metaphor -- but what is the structure of this metaphor?
Tell me, please!
