Well, I don't have too much experience, but I have had to play it in pits,
and I have subbed on it in wind ensemble. After piccolo and soprano
saxophone, the intonation just seems to be part of the deal. I find
I need harder reeds to get as big a sound as I want, and my pinkies
get tangled up when I am trying to play fast accross the break.

PS All clarinets in Eb are horribly out of tune. I have to play alto
and contra-alto all of the time, and its an adventure. The contra
is a Selmer rosewood beauty, but it is not in tune with itself.
