Dear Mr. Oehler,

I suspect that there may be a large number of Clarinet and Piano
arrangements of Joplin rags that I don't know about, but I can tell you
about one that I have performed, which I believe to be a pretty fair
arrangement.

The piece is "Scott Joplin's New Rag," which is one of five rags in a
book entitled, "Scott Joplin Ragtime Classics for Bb Clarinet and Piano,"
arranged by Marcel G. Frank and published by Edward B. Marks Music Corp.
The other pieces in this volume are "The Entertainer, The Easy Wineers,
Pleasant Moments, and the Cascades."

If you're interested in rags, even though some of the music uses
a violin in addition to the clarinet and piano, you should know about
William Bolcom's "Afternoon Cakewalk" Ballet Suite of six rags, which
contains superb arrangements of the following two Joplin rags:
"Easy Winners and Heliotrope Bouquet." The suite also contains a nifty
arrangement of James Scott's "Frog Legs Rag" for Eb clarinet and piano.
The music is available on rental from Theodore Presser.

If you are interested in any of this music and have some
questions, please let me know.

Best of Luck
