Fascinating responses! Hmmmmm. Maybe it'll one day go the direction of
tennis racquets, from wooden to increasingly exotic space age materials!
It would be nice to have something that doesn't swell, expand, crack,
dry out, etc., etc! Maybe a slow transition to wood with nose cone
porcelein linings?! Then, increasing amounts of new materials. I
remember when recurved bows (not violin bows, bow and arrow bows) went from
wood, to wood laminated with various kinds of fiberglass, to metal handles
with interchangable extensions, finally to compound (pulley-assisted) bows
made of various materials laminated and bolted together. Did lose something,
aesthetically, though.... :(
