Janet Greene is a wonderful clarinetist, a former NYC freelancer who now
teaches at
Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. She performs works by Edward Marcus on
this CD,
inlcuding Ed's Trio for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano; Quartet for Three
Clarinets and Bass Clarinet;
and Quintet for Clarinet and Strings. The supporting performers include
players from all 3 major
orchestras in the Twin Cities: St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota
Orchestra, and Minnesota
Opera Orchestra. The Trio and Quartet were written for Janet since Ed and I
moved to St. Paul,
and the Quintet was written for another friend and clarinetist, Robin
Seletsky, while we lived in
upstate NY. This CD has been a long time in the works, so many of you may
know of it already,
but it has been officially released this month, and is available now through
Amazon or Ed's website
online. Other clarinetists on the CD are Nina Olsen, bass clarinet, along
with Ed and myself
on the Quartet.
