Janice, have you tried the elastic neckstraps such as the one made by BG? =
I find them much more comfortable and =

practical than non-stretchy neckstraps like the ones that sax players use.

I used to use the Weight Lifter stand, which sits on the floor and has a pl=
ace to rest your bell in, but I prefer the =

elastic neckstrap. I don't even know if the Weight Lifter stand is still a=
vailable.

playing the clarinet.=A0=A0 NO I don't have arthritis and don't normally ha=
ve pain in that thumb.=A0=A0=A0 That thumb isn't strong =

enough to hold the weight of the clarinet while playing and tends to sag, c=
ausing the clarinet to move, and then I =

miss the finger holes while playing.=A0=A0 I can;t stand the neck straps, s=
o I dont use one to help hold the clarinet.=A0=A0 =

Would anyone have any suggestions for strengthening that thumb and the join=
t that connects the thumb to the =

hand?
