I have had very good experience with the Feldenkrais body-movement system.
There are books on it buit one session with a therapist who understands
music would be best. When I found this in 2006 I wrote to a friend: "
Discovered the Feldenkrais movement/exercise system from one coach, which
has already improved my posture, tone, reduced arm pains and enabled me to
trash my neckstrap." This still holds six years later, and I have been
playing heavier clarinets for the last four years, too (and at 71 am no
spring chicken).

It's more than just joint exercises, but also a method of distributing
movements and tensions so that stronger muscles take more of the load. For
example, arm and back muscles also help to support the instrument.

I need some suggestions on how to strengthen my right thumb and the joint so

enough to hold the weight of the clarinet while playing and tends to sag,
