The closest I've ever come to programming a computer was writing a
word-counting program in BASIC to use with an early freeware word processor,
PC-Write, on the original IBM-PC. No, I agree, counting words doesn't count
as programming; but in 1957, when I first started learning the clarinet, my
grammar school nickname was UNIVAC. And it was not meant as a compliment!
