I ought to have added that the

HBCB meets weekly in the Marina High School Band Room, probably thanks to the Civic Center Act which allows community groups to use school facilities when they are not otherwise in use. Don't know if we have to pay a custodial fee.

The Oakhurst Community Concert Band meets weekly in the Yosemite High School Band Room, probably under the same conditions. The OCCB raises funds through a cookie sale a couple of times each year. (I'm not sure that's true. How much money can one make with a cookie sale? I'll ask the director on Monday night). The diminished population of the mountain region in comparison with Huntington Beach makes it necessary to allow students to be members of the OCCB band. Drastic cuts to the music programs throughout the mountain region have had pretty bad effects on the stream of budding musicians coming through the pipeline.
