Certainly one ought to use whatever works and with whatever one feels comfortable, but I invite you to take a look at this link:

http://jadierose.com/midicollection.html

First, there's great stuff on the Web as you can see. Left click on "My Funny Valentine" which I have found works nicely with clarinet solo. The MIDI file will play automatically with default equipment on your machine. Play along with it if you'd like. The default stuff doesn't show you how many instruments are in this arrangement, nor to mute individual tracks, but if you right click on the link and then specify where the link is to be saved (don't forget to do that or you'll never be able to find it), with playback software (Cakewalk, MasterTracks, etc.) you find that it is a 7-instrument MIDI file and the melody track is at the bottom. If you click on that to mute it, you're suddenly playing along with an ensemble of six, the instruments of which can be changed to your liking. The only thing missing is your nightclub gig. I don't know if files like this are available on MMO, but the MIDI format allows easy change of tempo AND key with a couple of keystrokes. Moreover, MIDI files can be imported into your music notation program so as to allow you to print your part (notes only, no articulation or dynamics). There ARE some problems with MIDI importation to music notation programs, most of which are surmountable.
