As far as I know Buffet has never used teflon for those pins. I think they =
have always used (and still use) nylon and not the strongest nylon. For wha=
tever reason I don't see so many broken ones but I guess that's just luck.

When they do break I replace them with metal, usually cupronickel. For sile=
ncing (or when plastic ones need fillers to prevent play) I also use bladde=
r if I need it especially thin, or sail material from sailboats, which is s=
tronger and more durable, but not as thin as bladder, if I need a slightly =
thicker material. I get this material from a friend who lives near a sial b=
oat maker, just picks up throan away left overs. With either material I use=
a tiny amount of contact glue to glue it for more durability.
