Maybe a half dozen in the world. Keith Bowen did a masters dissertation of
the bass clarinet in A.

And what difference does it make how many there are in the world? I admit
that my view was aberrant, but wherever possible I did what the composer
asked for, my personal inclinations notwithstanding. I figured that he or
she knew better than I did about what was needed to play the work.
