I'm an amateur and not a great player (!), but fwiw, I'm 63 years old, in
good general health except for a bum knee (arthritis in an old running
injury), and had my lower wisdom teeth removed about a month ago. The
extractions were simple ones that took a total of just a few minutes,
because the teeth had erupted (about 30 years ago) and were not impacted.
Each tooth came out in one piece. (They had to go because they were leaning
into and damaging the molars in front of them. I'm one of those mutants who
never had upper wisdom teeth.) The gums healed practically overnight. I
had no problems at all with the extraction sites. I did have serious
allergic reactions to both of the prescribed drugs, a prescription
painkiller and an antibiotic, but these illnesses were unrelated to the
extractions themselves. I started playing clarinets and saxophones again
about 10 days after the extractions.
