Clarinettissimo 11, a weekend-long FREE clarinet =

event at the University of Washington

TIME: Saturday 12-9 (performance at 6:30), Sunday 12-8 (performance at 6)

LOCATION: Music Building, University of Washington, Seattle

PARTICIPANTS: Special guest artists: Slovenian =

Clarinet Sensation Jo=9Ee Kotar, and local Jazz =

expert Steve Treseler. Featured artists: =

Metropolitan Opera clarinetist Sean Osborn, =

Pacific Northwest Ballet and University of =

Washington clarinetist Jennifer =

Nelson. Additional artists: basset-hornist Mary =

Kantor, conductor William Blayney, and pianist Rhonda Kline.

ADMISSION: All events are free to the public.

On October 1st and 2nd, the 11th annual =

Clarinettissimo festival will return to the =

University of Washington as a weekend-long =

festival featuring special guests Jo=9Ee Kotar and =

Steve Treseler, along with long-time featured =

performers Sean Osborn, Jennifer Nelson, and Mary =

Kantor. In addition to performances each night, =

there will be master-classes, a jazz workshop, =

vendors selling clarinet-related equipment and =

music, and a community clarinet choir for all to =

participate in. All events are free and =

presented in a relaxed environment with =

historical context and education in mind. Musician jokes will also be pres=
ent.

International soloist Jo=9Ee Kotar became principal =

clarinetist of the RTV Slovenia Symphony =

Orchestra in 2007 after serving in that role at =

the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra for 12 =

years. He is also a tenured professor at the =

Academy of Music in Ljubljana. Sean Osborn is an =

international clarinet soloist, formerly with the =

Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He has also =

appeared as guest principal clarinet with the New =

York Philharmonic, American Symphony Orchestra, =

Seattle Symphony, and others. Jennifer Nelson is =

principal clarinet of the Pacific Northwest =

Ballet Orchestra and clarinet teacher at the University of Washington.

Music of Weber, Mendelssohn, Poulenc, Schocker, =

Ponchielli, Pucihar, Grgin, Dekleva, Vauda,
and a world premier composition by Sean Osborn
