Hi Jenny,
I Presume you're doing Shepherd on the Rock? Did you think of doing the
Schumann Fantasy pieces
(For A clarinet) and linking them with the 3 pieces for oboe (your C
clarinet will do fine). all of which should be available on Clarinet
Institute or IMSLP. They're very much contemporary with the Schubert, but
the piano parts are difficult.
Alternatively you could look to the end of the 19th century and the 3 pieces
by Charles Villers Standford. The Irish link would be easy to explain. Last
suggestion is the 7 variation be Weber on theme from Silvana.
