Pushing into more contemporary territory: Peter Maxwell Davies wrote a
wonderful clarinet quintet about 7 years ago, "Hymn to Artemis Locheia",
published by Schott; Harrison Birtwistle and Magnus Lindberg have also
written clarinet quintets.

There is also "The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind" by Osvaldo
Golijov, where the clarinettist also plays bass clarinet and basset horn
-- this is a wonderfully theatrical piece in performance.
