A bit late to the party, I'm afraid, but the other day I turned on the =

radio in the middle of a clarinet quintet, beautiful elegiac music that =

I didn't recognise. My first thought was Finzi, though I quickly =

realised it couldn't be. It turned out to be 'Souvenirs de Voyage' by =

Bernard Herrmann. It was a recording played by Julian Bliss with the =

Tippett Quartet (and as a 'blind' listening test it proved to me what a =

fine player he is).

It deserves to be better known, I think.

it "backward". Thanks also for suggestion to quartets. The Penderecki 4tet=
is on youtube with beautiful playing by swedish Martin Fr=F6st and co.
