I'm a aficionado clarinetist. I bougth a used R13 a couple of years ago, the instrument came with a mouth piece that only says "Ridenuar" no number or other mark, but works much better for me than B45 I was using with my former E11. I keep using the Vandorens reeds 2.5 or 3 recomended for the B45. Do you think there is a better reed for this new mp? or, how can I know what is a better reed for this mp? Is this a open or closed mp? Tanks in advance.
Sal.

> There are open, closed mouthpieces, and mouthpieces between. A closed mouthpiece has less distance between the tip of the reed and the tip of the mouthpiece than does an open mouthpiece. Measured in milimeters. You can find charts (usually by ordering a catalog either from Weiner Music or Woodwind and Brasswind) that give you measurements. Most mouthpieces have different names -- or something to differentiate one mouthpiece from another in any manufacturer's line. Closed mouthpieces tend to work well with #3-5 reeds; medium-closed, with softer reeds; and very open mouthpieces with soft (2-2.5 but probably not less resistant). Both music stores (or any other you know of that produces a catalog) have web sites and one should be able to request a catalog by mail (and then find out what other fun things for clarinets there are)!! Good luck!
