My first clarinet was a Prufer, bought new in about 1955 from
Grinnells Music in DETROIT. It had a metal lined upper joint, and the
model was called 'SILVER THROAT"but it certainlly wasn't silver. As I
recall it played OK except for the throat tones which I later in life
discovered were adjusted too closed and made for very stuffy throat
tones. Once the opening was increased the range improved. ...I'll
stick with my 60's vintage r-13.
